Neuropathy and  light treatment

I specialise in the treatment of the effects of Neuropathy using a combination of red, blue and infrared light and massage therapies.

Neuropathy may cause numbness, tingling, or burning sensations.  If you are suffering from any of these symptoms, I can help you.

What is light therapy?

Light therapy uses red, blue and infrared light. The light triggers the release of nitric oxide from blood vessels and red blood cells. Nitric oxide causes local vasodilation that lasts several hours after the therapy session has ended.

Vasodilation significantly improves blood flow. Improving blood flow promotes positive change in patients, lessens pain and helps nerves to begin to carry sensations again.

When nitric oxide is released from haemoglobin and endothelial cells, it acts as a signalling molecule that relaxes smooth muscle cells found in the arteries, veins, and lymph vessels. When these muscles relax, the vessels dilate, thus allowing increased circulation.

Spectral physiotherapy, including red light, blue light, near-infrared light, etc., can penetrate deep into muscle tissue, promote blood circulation, and promote changes in nerves in the diseased area. It has a good effect on acute and chronic pain caused by neuropathy, such as burning sensation, tingling sensation, cramping, stiffness, joints, muscle aches, plantar fascia, etc. Light therapy uses red light and infrared light. Light triggers the release of nitric oxide from blood vessels and red blood cells.

After the red light treatment, I perform sympathetic massage on the affected area to further relax the muscles and promote nerve stimulation.

I use several massage techniques according to the patient’s needs, see my full services here.

“Thank you Sarah. The pain in my hands and feet is so much better.”

A former chemotherapy patient

My cancer treatments left me with neuropathy in my feet and hands. Sarah’s amazing red lights and gentle massage helped to restore circulation and feeling back to my toes and fingers.
